Dendrobium Claude and Tuulikki Janssen
6th January 2015
This exotic orchid exudes beautiful hues of pink to purple or purplish to indigo on its petals and produces semi-arching inflorescences that are up to 50 cm long, bearing about 25 to 30 flowers each. The petals are gracefully twisted and upright-looking while the sepals curl backwards. Each bloom measures about 5.5 cm across and 7.0 cm height. The blooms are typically arranged in a circular pattern around the stalk. The thick textured flowers come in a combination of white with light-purplish or purple to violet colour tepals and possess a prominent purplish veined lip that is shaped like a spatulata or “spoon” –  characteristic of Dendrobiums in Section Spathulata.
