Dendrobium Steward Cross is a primary hybrid. Both the parents, Dendrobium conanthum and Dendrobium violaceoflavens are species from New Guinea. Den Steward Cross inherits the shape of the lip from the pollen parent but the colour from the seed parent. The tepals are in between of the two parents.
This orchid was named in honour of Steward Cross Pte Ltd by Singapore General Hospital in appreciation of the organization's generous donation to the SGH Integrated Fund.
