On his receipt of the Inaugural Nanyang Alumni Award in 2006. In remembrance of this splendid occasion, a group of his former stuents presented to Prof Hew Choy Sin this special orchid hybrid, named in honour of him.
It also serves to commemorate his achievements in his career, relentless guidance to his students and his outstanding contributions to orchid research.
