Teak is native to Southeast Asia's rainforests and has a long history of use by the locals. Teakwood is fine-grained and imbued with a rubbery resin that resists mold, mildew and microbes. As teak is much prized for its longevity, since the seventh century, it has been cultivated and harvested for timber to make furniture and sea vessels.
To commemorate the historic value of teak and its ties to the region, we created Teak@rt. A paper weight crafted from a piece of solid Teak and hand-painted with bugs indigenous to Southeast Asia.
